Nucomme's Expression

Nucomme’s musical expression is constantly evolving.  The Corpus Christi born vocalist and musician never wants to be contained in a box. Her music is heavily invested in jazz and blues rhythms.  When asked why she makes music she answers with characteristic straightforwardness:  “I make music to exercise the demons in my soul and for the women in my family who wanted to pursue their dreams and desires and could not.”

"I distinctly remember being 4 yrs old and running through my favorite patch of buttercups, singing to whomever could and would hear. I remember singing with my mother for the first time and she turned down the radio in utter amazement because not only did i know the words to "black butterfly" by Denice Williams, but i was really singing."

"My first audience was the people of the NYC subway and not just the folks on the platform waiting on the train, but the ones actually riding the train. I sang on subway cars.  There is where i tested out my original material and one song i had taught myself to play while standing in line for an audition at The Apollo. Ironically the song, Change, was the song that took me to a whole new level of confidence and taught me to transform with the music and the moment.  I stepped out and lost any fear of creating my own sound and listening to my own voice and was well received. There is so much more to be had in this world and a host of people who are out there to receive ands support you."
